I first wrote this song for my Mum Brenda’s 88th birthday, in 2020.

Today, 8 September 2022, is the first anniversary of her death, and I decided to release a remix of the original song.
The COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing. I was living in Thailand and my Mum in Australia.
My Mum was suffering from advanced dementia, her memory fast deteriorating.
The lyrics try to express how the disease had robbed me of my mother, she was no longer the same person.
Plus the Australian Government had closed its International borders, if I wanted to visit her, I couldn’t.

The first version of the song was only shared with family. I’m not much of a vocalist.
But I’ve learned a few tricks and improved my mixing and mastering skills and the vocals are quite passable now.

If you have lost someone to dementia. Or a loved one has passed from this world to the next. This song may resonate with you.
