Being a ‘mature’ musician and publishing my first release ‘later in life’ the idea of ‘it’s never too late to be a rock star’ entered my head. I decided that personal reference to being a ‘rock star’ was a bit exaggerated and the name Never Too Old To Rock kind of stuck. My guitar playing standards have slipped with age so I decided to test the usefulness of the iPad app Riffler. I used it to generate several 4-bar riffs and then spliced and diced those riffs to create some variety and interest. Riffler allows for the export of WAV files and MIDI for each riff it generates. I used Positive Grid’s Bias FX 2 plugin within Logic Pro to spice up the guitar and added a few synth melody lines here and there. A catchy, rock instrumental came to life…
