Nobody Should Die Alone

This track came about after I read an article about the the 10,000th person to die from COVID-19 in Australia. It was a 95-years old man and he died alone. Although he desperately wanted to see his family one last time, various reasons got in the way. Family members were either also sick with COVID and forbidden from entering the hospital. Or others lived too far away and just didn’t get to the hospital in time. Of course, he is not the only person to suffer this fate, during the COVID pandemic or at other times. I thought more about this and realised throughout time this will have happened to many. During wars, some poor souls will have been left behind on the battlefield, with the intent of collecting when safe to do so, but perishing before that help could arrive. People who get lost in the wilderness, suffer accidents alone and die slowly from their injuries. You get the idea. To remember them I created this music.
A sad topic but an uplifting musical experience. Soft bells depict the journey from this life to the next. And then in the last third of the song we meet the ghosts of those who experienced the same lonely death, who wait to greet the new souls. Nobody should die alone and in my musical world they don’t.
